Haresso Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign In Kampala Uganda
The program targeted the vulnerable parts of the community like elderly, people with other underlined medical conditions and people who live in crowded areas and residents. We have initiated local teams who work with the health professionals and government agencies through identifying the areas of main concern and connecting the voiceless parts of the community to the service providers.
We also have engaged the local leaders to play their role in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, we encouraged the leaders like area chiefs, religious leaders and other community leaders to take vaccine themselves and respectively educate their members of the community about the importance of getting vaccinated.
We have noted there is a limited access of vaccine available to the public and at the same time there are a lot of misinformation about the safety of the vaccine which has created suspicion and many people to became vaccine hesitant, so HARESSO through field experts educated the participants and the community at large that the vaccine is safe and encouraged everyone who get a chance to take his/her shot not to miss. It will come a time everyone will know the importance of the vaccine.
Our team has explained to the community that vaccination against covid-19 reduces the risk of getting the disease by working with the body’s defense systems, and when you are vaccinated your immune system responds very quickly and strongly against the germs. The vaccine is safe, and helps the body’s immune system without causing illness or exposing your life to any risk.
The participants and the community leaders praised the work of HARESSO and promised to work with the team and take a leading role in the vaccine campaign, we also have emphasized that people should follow the covid-19 healthy guidelines like face covering, social distancing and also to seek medical advice from health practitioners in case of covid-19 symptoms.
